Day 1: Discovering the Heart of the City on Shanghai Metro

Shanghai may be a sprawling metropolis, but getting around is easy and efficient thanks to its extensive metro system. Start your three-day tour of Shanghai by exploring the heart of the city on the metro. Begin at People's Square, the city's central hub and home to many of Shanghai's top attractions.

From People's Square, take Line 2 to the iconic Bund, a mile-long stretch of historic buildings along the Huangpu River. Walk along the waterfront and take in the views of the futuristic Pudong skyline on the opposite bank. From there, you can take a short stroll to Nanjing Road, Shanghai's most famous shopping street, and explore the high-end stores, local boutiques, and street food vendors.

End your day by taking the metro to the Jing'an Temple area, home to one of Shanghai's oldest Buddhist temples. The temple dates back to the 3rd century AD and is home to some impressive Buddhist statues as well as a peaceful garden. Day 3: Enjoying Parks and Museums on Shanghai Metro

From there, walk to the nearby People's Park, where you can find karaoke singers, dance groups, and even matchmaking events.

Next, take Line 10 to the Shanghai Natural History Museum, which houses an impressive collection of dinosaur skeletons and fossils, as well as exhibits on the plants and animals of China. From there, continue to the nearby Xujiahui area, which is home to several parks, including the picturesque Guilin Park and the serene Shanghai Botanical Garden.

For dinner, head to the trendy Tianzifang neighborhood, which is known for its narrow alleyways, traditional shikumen buildings, and artistic atmosphere. You'll find plenty of restaurants and bars to suit any taste, as well as galleries showcasing the works of local artists.
